York University is home to a number of Organized Research Units (ORUs), commonly referred to as research centres or research institutes. ORUs are organized under a specific Faculty if they relate solely to disciplines or departments associated with that Faculty. Interdisciplinary ORUs, that bring together researchers from various Faculties, are organized under the Office of the Vice-President Research & Innovation. Research centres and institutes provide collaborative support to researchers and are a vibrant and important part of the research culture at York.
